The 2nd Annual HKS Mid Atlantic Design Fellowship focused on the historic Washington Coliseum (or U-Line Arena as it is known) in the developing NoMa District of DC. I was selected by application in February of 2012 to travel to the Washington DC office of HKS and work with a team of 3 others on a 72 hour design charette for this historic structure.
Our team along with 2 other teams toured the site, met with local developers and set out to complete a conceptual design for adapting the thin shell concrete structure into Washington DC’s first music museum complete with interactive children’s educational spaces.
